Osteopathy
Live Better!

Osteopathy is a form of healthcare that focuses on the whole body, not just the symptoms. It’s a hands-on approach that aims to restore balance, improve mobility, and support the body’s natural ability to heal.

Osteopaths are regulated allied health professionals trained to assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions using up-to-date, evidence-informed, hands-on care.

What an Osteopath Does:

  • Uses gentle techniques such as movement and biomechanical assessment, stretching, soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation and manipulations.

  • Assesses how muscles, joints, ligaments and posture are working together.

  • Identifies factors that may be contributing to your pain, discomfort and restrictions, with the aim of improving movement, function and reducing pain.

  • Offers guidance on exercise, lifestyle, and ergonomics to prevent recurrence.

Osteopathy may be helpful for people experiencing:

  • Muscle and joint pain or tension

  • Back, neck and shoulder pain

  • Reduced mobility, stiffness or flexibility

  • Sciatica-type symptoms

  • Headaches associated with the neck

  • Sports and activity-related injuries

  • Tendon and joint problems

  • Difficulty returning to activity following injury

  • Those wanting to move more comfortably and confidently in everyday life

What to expect at your first appointment

. I'll take a thorough medical history to understand your general health, any relevant medical conditions and whether osteopathic treatment is appropriate for you.

. Next, we will discuss the symptoms you are experiencing.

. Then I will conduct the appropriate biomechanical testing via active and passive movements and special testing for specific problems - this helps me to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms, and where appropriate, form a working diagnosis.

. Next, we will discuss your diagnosis and treatment plan or referral if needed.

. Lastly, if osteopathic treatment is appropriate and you are happy to proceed, treatment can usually begin during the appointment.

New Patient Consultation - £65

Approximately  60-90 minutes: Your first appointment is a comprehensive consultation, designed to give me a thorough understanding of you, your health, and what has brought you to the clinic. We’ll take time to discuss your current symptoms, medical history, lifestyle and any concerns you may have. I’ll then assess how your body moves and carry out a physical examination, including relevant clinical and orthopaedic tests where appropriate.Following your assessment, I’ll explain my findings, discuss your diagnosis and talk through the treatment options available, ensuring you feel informed and comfortable with your proposed treatment plan. Where clinically appropriate, your first appointment will also include hands-on treatment. This may involve a combination of soft tissue techniques, joint articulation and mobilisation, muscle energy techniques (METs), stretching and, where suitable, high-velocity low-amplitude thrust techniques (HVLA). All treatment is tailored to your individual needs to reduce discomfort, improve mobility and help you move more comfortably and confidently.

Follow up appointment

Approximately 30–45 minutes: Follow-up appointments build on your initial consultation and treatment plan. We’ll begin by reviewing how you’ve been since your last visit and discussing any changes or concerns. I’ll reassess you where needed before continuing with hands-on treatment tailored to your progress. Your treatment plan will be continually adapted to help you achieve the best possible outcome.

Osteopathy-Led Massage (New patient consultation is required before this appointment).

For existing osteopathy patients who want additional massage as part of their ongoing care. Treatment is guided by your previous osteopathic assessment, clinical findings and treatment plan, combining focused massage with an osteopathic understanding of how your body is moving and functioning. If you have a new problem that has not previously been assessed, please book an osteopathy consultation first.
