Bachelor of Osteopathy (Hons) | Registered Osteopath | Level 5 Remedial Massage Therapist

Hello, I'm Debbie, the owner and practitioner at Coalville Osteopathy Clinic.

I've always had a genuine interest in how the human body works, particularly how movement, muscles and joints influence the way we feel and function in everyday life.

My professional journey began in soft tissue and remedial massage therapy, where I developed a passion for helping people manage muscular discomfort, improve their mobility and feel more comfortable in their bodies.

Over the years, working closely with patients made me increasingly curious about the reasons behind their pain and movement restrictions. I wanted to understand more, look beyond the immediate symptoms and develop the clinical knowledge and skills to offer a broader approach to treatment.

That curiosity eventually led me to study osteopathy.

My Journey into Osteopathy

I completed my Bachelor of Osteopathy (Honours) degree through the College of Osteopaths and the University of Derby, graduating with a 2:1 classification.

Studying osteopathy alongside running my own clinic was a considerable commitment, but one that I found incredibly rewarding.

My training involved extensive academic study, clinical assessments and over 1,000 hours of supervised clinical experience, working with patients presenting with a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

It allowed me to build upon my existing hands-on experience while developing a much deeper understanding of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, clinical assessment and the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal problems.

I am now registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), the statutory regulatory body for osteopaths in the UK.

My Approach to Treatment

I believe that good treatment begins with listening.

Everyone who comes into my clinic has their own story, whether they're experiencing a recent injury, persistent discomfort, reduced mobility or simply finding that everyday activities are becoming more difficult.

My approach is individual, practical and hands-on.

I combine detailed clinical assessment with a range of osteopathic techniques, which may include soft tissue treatment, joint articulation and mobilisation, muscle energy techniques, stretching and, where appropriate, high-velocity low-amplitude (HVLA) manipulation.

My background in remedial massage continues to influence the way I work, and I particularly enjoy combining soft tissue techniques with osteopathic assessment and treatment.

I don't believe in following the same treatment routine for everyone. Instead, I aim to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms, explain my findings clearly and develop a treatment plan that is appropriate for you.

Where helpful, I'll also offer advice on movement, exercise and self-management to support your progress between appointments.

A Friendly, Supportive Environment

I understand that visiting a new practitioner can sometimes feel a little daunting, especially if you're in pain or unsure what to expect.

My aim is to create a relaxed, welcoming environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, discussing your concerns and being involved in decisions about your care.

I'll always take the time to explain what I'm assessing, what I've found and which treatment options may be suitable. If I feel that osteopathic treatment isn't appropriate, I'll explain why and discuss other options, including referral where necessary.

Coalville Osteopathy Clinic

I'm proud to run my own independent clinic at St James's Business Centre in Coalville.

Having developed my practice from remedial massage into osteopathy, I'm delighted to offer patients a wider range of musculoskeletal assessment and treatment options while maintaining the friendly, personal approach that has always been important to me.

Whether you're visiting for the first time or have been coming to see me for years, my aim remains the same: to provide thoughtful, individual care and help you move and feel as well as possible.

I look forward to welcoming you to the clinic.
